52 ancestors in 52 weeks challenge

Week 2 - Challenge

This week I chose my great great grandmother, E.E. Farmer.  I am still searching to find her name, parents and birth date.

Not much is known about E.E. Farmer. The only record found that gives her name is her marriage to Frank Bear on March 20, 1871.[1] There is a "Find-a-Grave" memorial for E.E. Bear that died on November 15, 1887 in Rich Hill.[2] There is no picture or source that shows this is a reliable death date.

E.E. may have died before 1880 when Nellie is counted in the U.S. census as a four year old living with her uncle John Bear in Jewel County, Kansas.[3][4] Nellie's death certificate lists her mother as unknown which is not surprising since she was living with relatives at such an early age. On March 1, 1885 Nellie is nine years old and still living in Kansas when she is counted in the household of a "Luke and Emily Asher" in Miami, Sugar Creek County, Kansas.[5]
